Our brothers and sisters in the Third
World are being arrested and worse for their acts of honest
reporting. In the First World, journalism has
largely been reduced to the function of a scribe---writing down what those in
power say. The intimidation of journalists in the First
World has become systemic and remains one of democracy's dirty
